“My Life. My Addiction. My Redemption.
This is the true story of Fin Dalton: abandoned at birth, abused as a child, and spiraling into a 33-year addiction fueled by a life of violence as an enforcer. My heart was stone, my future bleak.
But everything changed.
In this raw and honest memoir, I share the full, unvarnished truth of my past and the incredible, life-changing encounter with God that set me free. It’s a journey from pure darkness to radical, unshakeable hope.
If you’re ready for a story that proves anything is possible with faith, read my book.

Prologue:
The echo of a door slam:
The biting Yorkshire wind whipped around my knees, tugging at the edges of my shorts as I knelt beside the man huddled in the doorway. His face, a roadmap of hard living etched with grime and despair, was barely visible beneath a matted tangle of hair. Another lost soul swallowed by the unforgiving streets of Wakefield. A ghost in a city that had once felt like my own personal stomping ground.
Twenty years ago, the sight of him wouldn’t have stirred a flicker of empathy within me. Back then, my heart was a cold stone, shielded by layers of trauma and fueled by the relentless craving for the next hit of crack cocaine. I was a predator, navigating a world of shadows, leaving a trail of fear, violence, destruction and broken promises in my wake.
Love? It was a foreign language my soul couldn’t decipher.
But the echoes of that life still linger, a stark reminder of the man I used to be. The violence, the addiction, the gnawing emptiness – they are not distant memories, but scars etched deep on my face and within my heart. Scars that ache with the understanding of the pain I inflicted and revived within the darkness I inhabited.
Now, squatting down on this cold pavement, offering a cup of tea and a hesitant word of hope, I see a reflection of that former self. The same lost eyes, the same weariness that seeps into the very bones. And in that reflection, I find a fierce urgency. A desperate need to show him – to show all of them – that there is a way out of the darkness. That even from the deepest pit, a hand can reach down and pull you into the light.
My name is Fin Dalton, and this is my story. A story that screams a warning, yet whispers a promise. A testament to how a life shattered into a million pieces can, by the grace of something far greater than myself, be pieced back together. A story of how a heart of stone can, against all odds, learn to beat with love. And how even the faintest glimmer of faith can ignite a fire that can illuminate the darkest corners of the human soul.
This isn’t a tale of glory or self-pity. It’s a raw, unfiltered account of a life lived on the razor’s edge, a descent into hell, and the unexpected hand that pulled me back. It’s a story I share not for sympathy, but for understanding. Because behind every broken life, there’s a story waiting to be told. And sometimes, that story can be the key to unlocking another’s freedom.
